Vintage Comedy THE PHILADELPHIA STORY at the Santa Paula Theater Center

The Santa Paula Theater Center will presents the vintage comedy “The Philadelphia Story” through August 3, 2008. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 4 pm. A special 2:30 pm curtain time is scheduled for Sunday, July 27. There is no performance on Friday July 4 or 25, but there will be an added performance on Thursday, July 24 at 8 pm. All performances take place at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 South 7th Street in Santa Paula. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors & students and $12 for children 12 & under. A glamorous and sophisticated vintage comedy, Philip Barry’s “The Philadelphia Story” is a compelling mix of wit, satire, and romance, with a freewheeling heroine who delights, exasperates and moves us in equal measure. Katherine Hepburn starred as Tracy Lords on Broadway in 1939, and recreated her role alongside Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant in the 1940’s film that became one of the great movies of the Golden Age.
“The Philadelphia Story” was written by Philip Barry and is under the direction of Fred Helsel with Leslie Nichols producing. Scenic Design is by Will Shupe with Lighting by Gary Richardson. Costume design is by Randon Poole with Nelson Fox as Stage Manager. Featured in the cast are Christine Burke as Tracy Lord, James Castle Stevens as her first husband C.K. Dexter, Mark Heulitt as her intended fiancé George Kittridge, with Aaron Strange and Nancy Finn as reporter Macaulay Connor and photographer Liz Imbrie. Rounding our the Lord family are Leslie Nichols as Margaret Lord, Ronald Rezac as Seth Lord, Patrick J Saxon as Alexander Lord, Alison Williams as Dinah Lord, and Doug Friedlander as Uncle Willey. Jasmine Doyle-Allen and Nelson Fox play the servants of the Lord household, Elsie and Edward.
